13-year-old bicyclist hospitalized after crash with car in Plymouth

A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured over the weekend after colliding with a car while riding his bike in Plymouth.
Police and firefighters responded to the crash at the intersection of White Horse and Rocky Hill Roads at around 1 p.m. on Sunday, Plymouth police said in an email. The boy was taken to a Boston hospital to be treated for his injuries
In a GoFundMe campaign raising money to help pay for Gage’s medical expenses, Lavoie family friends Megan and Scott Dempster described the teen’s injuries as “catastrophic.” After the crash, Gage was flown to Boston Children’s Hospital, where doctors discovered that he had 24 broken bones and a brain bleed, they wrote.
“Thanks to the extraordinary medical team at Children’s, Gage was stabilized — but he remains intubated, sedated, and unable to breathe on his own. The road ahead will be long, uncertain, and incredibly difficult. His doctors have shared that he will likely be hospitalized for many months,” the Dempsters wrote.
Gage’s parents have spent as much time by his side as possible and are staying in Boston while he recovers, the couple wrote. The financial burden of unexpected medical costs is being exacerbated by their lost income.
