Plymouth Residents on Edge: Mysterious ‘Beast’ Roams Charge Pond Road
PLYMOUTH, MA – A palpable sense of unease has settled over the quiet, wooded community along Charge Pond Road in Plymouth, as residents report a series of unsettling encounters with what they’ve dubbed “The Beast of Charge Pond Road.” Unexplained howls, strange sightings, and a rash of missing domestic animals have left the neighborhood on high alert,
For weeks, whispers and rumors have circulated amongst the tightly-knit community. But in the last ten days, the reports have escalated from mere strange noises to terrifying, close-range encounters.

“I’ve lived here my whole life, and I’ve heard every sound the woods can make – coyotes, foxes, even bears,” stated Martha Henderson, a long-time resident whose property abuts the state forest land. “But what I heard last Tuesday night… it was primal. A guttural snarl followed by a shriek I can’t even describe. It wasn’t natural.”
Mrs. Henderson claims her outdoor cat, “Whiskers,” has been missing since that night.
Other residents have reported fleeting glimpses of a large, dark, four-legged creature. “It moved so fast, like nothing I’ve ever seen,” said David Rodriguez, who saw something dart across his driveway in the early hours of Saturday morning. “It was bigger than a large dog, maybe the size of a small bear, but shaped differently. And its eyes… they seemed to glow in the dark.”
Further adding to the mystery are reports of unusual tracks found near properties – larger than any common local wildlife, with an odd, almost clawed imprint. Several residents have also reported small, inexplicable damage to outdoor sheds and fences, as if something tried to force its way in or out.
Plymouth Police Chief Michael O’Connell acknowledged the growing number of calls from the Charge Pond Road area. “We are taking every report seriously and have increased patrols in the vicinity,” Chief O’Connell stated in a press briefing Tuesday. “Our officers have investigated the reported sightings and sounds, but so far, we haven’t found any definitive evidence – no clear tracks that align with these descriptions, no direct confirmation of what these residents are seeing.”
Chief O’Connell urged residents to remain calm but vigilant. “We advise securing pets indoors, especially at night, and ensuring all trash and food sources are properly secured to avoid attracting any wildlife. If you see something unusual, do not approach it. Call 911 immediately.”

Wildlife officials from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife have also been consulted, but experts remain cautious. “Massachusetts has a healthy population of coyotes, bobcats, and black bears,” explained Dr. Eleanor Vance, a regional wildlife biologist. “Many of these animals can make surprising and unsettling noises, especially during certain seasons. Unusual tracks can also be misinterpreted or distorted by terrain.”
However, even Dr. Vance admitted the consistent nature of the descriptions was intriguing. “The reports of unusual size and specific vocalizations are something we’re certainly monitoring. We’re asking anyone who captures clear photos or videos, or finds undeniable tracks, to contact us.”
For the residents of Charge Pond Road, the scientific explanations offer little comfort. Children are being kept indoors after dusk, outdoor activities have been curtailed, and discussions on local social media groups are rife with theories ranging from a misidentified bear to something far more sinister.
As the mysterious “Beast of Charge Pond Road” continues to elude capture and clear identification, fear remains the most tangible presence in this otherwise tranquil Plymouth neighborhood.
