In relation to Brockton, Massachusetts, the term “serial killer” has been connected to two main individuals or series of events
1. Unidentified Killer (Active 2013-2014):
- Between 2013 and 2014, a man attacked, raped, and killed women in Brockton.
- The remains of Ashley Mylett, 20, and Linda Schufeldt, 50, were found in a wooded area in December 2014.
- DNA evidence connected these murders to at least three violent rapes in the same area.
- As of May 2024, this individual was still on the loose, according to CBS News.
- A woman who was raped in 2014, weeks before the bodies were found, believes she was attacked by the same person.
- The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office used DNA phenotyping to create a sketch of the suspect.

2. Michael A. Tanzi:
- Michael A. Tanzi, a Massachusetts man, was convicted and sentenced to death in Florida for the murder of Janet Acosta.
- He was also linked to other killings, including that of Caroline Holder in Brockton, Massachusetts.
- USAToday reported that Tanzi acknowledged killing Caroline Holder, a laundromat worker who was beaten and fatally stabbed.
- His death sentence in Florida superseded extradition for the Massachusetts case.
Important Note: The Spotify podcast episode mentions a possible arrest linking a man accused of abducting and killing Jassy Correia (in March 2019) to the 2013-2014 Brockton serial killings.

Additionally, there’s a reference to growing online concern regarding a potential serial killer active in the wider New England area, with some discussion connecting recent discoveries in Brockton and elsewhere in Massachusetts, but law enforcement has not officially linked these cases
