A man posing as a valet at a restaurant in Pembroke, Massachusetts, kidnapped a 75-year-old woman before ditching her and her car in Rhode Island, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office.
Details of the incident:
Location and time: The incident began on September 14, 2025, when the victim returned to a 99 Restaurant in Pembroke to retrieve a phone and wallet she had forgotten.

The kidnapping: A man, identified as 36-year-old Michael J. Guerrero, approached her and claimed to be a restaurant valet. He offered to drive her to an unlocked rear entrance, but instead drove her away from the restaurant and onto a highway, threatening her with a gun. He also demanded she perform lewd acts.
The escape: As Guerrero drove through what the victim believed was Providence or Johnston, Rhode Island, he stopped at a four-way intersection.
The woman used this opportunity to try and escape. Guerrero got out of the car, threw the keys away, and fled the scene.
Investigation and arrest: The victim was able to return to Massachusetts and report the crime to the Pembroke police. After police posted surveillance images, restaurant employees identified the man as a person they had seen in the area. Investigators used this information and details from a rideshare app to identify Guerrero as the suspect. He was arrested in Providence, Rhode Island, on September 24 and extradited to Massachusetts.
Charges: Guerrero is facing multiple charges, including kidnapping, carjacking, and indecent assault and battery on a person over 60.
Legal status: He has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for October 6.
