Marshfield Man Arrested for Alleged Credit Card Theft Scheme at Linden Ponds Senior Living in Hingham
HINGHAM, MA (plimoth)— A Marshfield man has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged credit card theft scheme targeting residents at the Linden Ponds senior living community, according to Hingham Police.
Authorities say the suspect, 28-year-old Kevaughn R. Fagan of Marshfield, is accused of stealing a credit card from an elderly resident and making unauthorized purchases. Investigators allege the suspect gained access to the facility by posing as a rideshare driver and a junk removal worker, allowing him to interact with residents under false pretenses.
Police reports indicate that residents became suspicious after several encounters with a man offering services such as furniture removal. In at least one instance, the suspect allegedly entered an unlocked apartment while claiming he was there for a scheduled pickup. Staff later contacted police when the individual returned to the complex, leading to his arrest inside the building.
Fagan is facing multiple charges, including larceny from a person over 60, daytime breaking and entering, and entering a dwelling by false pretenses. He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Hingham District Court. Bail was set, and he is expected to return to court for a probable cause hearing in January.
Hingham Police say the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible. Authorities are asking anyone who may have had contact with the suspect or who believes they may be a victim to contact the Hingham Police Department.
Police are also reminding residents and families to remain cautious and to verify the identity of anyone requesting entry into private residences, particularly within senior living communities.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
