East Bridgewater Man Arrested in Alleged Kidnapping and Rape Case
East Bridgewater, MA (plimoth)— An East Bridgewater man has been arrested and is facing multiple serious criminal charges following an investigation into alleged sexual assaults, according to Massachusetts authorities.
Police say the suspect was taken into custody after an 18-year-old woman reported that she was held against her will and sexually assaulted multiple times over several days. Investigators allege the incidents occurred after the two met through a dating app.
The man has been charged with multiple counts of rape, kidnapping, assault and battery, threatening to commit a crime, and furnishing alcohol to a minor, among other offenses. Authorities have not released further details about the alleged assaults due to the sensitive nature of the case.
The suspect was arraigned in Brockton District Court, where a judge ordered him held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing. Prosecutors also moved to revoke bail from a separate, unrelated case in which the defendant was already involved.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and encouraged anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward.
As with all criminal matters, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
