Massachusetts Mom Lindsay Clancy Appears in Court in Person for First Time Since Children’s Deaths
PLYMOUTH, Mass. — February 20, 2026 (plimoth) — Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury mother indicted in the deaths of her three young children in January 2023, made her first in-person court appearance today in Plymouth Superior Court after more than three years of remote hearings.
Clancy, 35, appeared seated in a wheelchair and dressed in black for a pretrial motions hearing ahead of her scheduled murder trial on July 20, 2026. Prosecutors and defense attorneys discussed upcoming procedures, pending motions, and next court dates.
Clancy is charged with three counts each of murder and strangulation in the deaths of her 5-year-old daughter Cora, 3-year-old son Dawson, and 8-month-old baby Callan, whom prosecutors allege she strangled inside the family’s Duxbury home in January 2023 while her husband was out running errands.
Her defense team is seeking a bifurcated trial, asking the judge to split proceedings into two phases — first to determine guilt and then to examine her mental state at the time of the killings. The motion is expected to be considered at a March 2 court date.
Clancy’s attorneys also continue to raise concerns about her transportation and medical needs, as she remains under care at Tewksbury State Hospital due to injuries sustained in a suicide attempt immediately following the children’s deaths.
The defense has signaled its intention to argue that postpartum mental illness and medication issues were factors in the 2023 tragedy, while prosecutors maintain that Clancy’s actions were deliberate.
The case continues to draw attention as legal preparations proceed toward the July 2026 trial.
