Heat & Severe Weather Advisory: July 24th and 25th

 

Building heat and humidity will bring heat indexes in the mid 90s Thursday and in the upper 90s to lower 100s Friday with the possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms on Friday. Prolonged exposure to high heat and humidity could cause heat illnesses. To stay safe make sure to drink plenty of fluids, limit strenuous time outdoors in the afternoon, stay in an air-conditioned room when possible, wear light-weight/light-colored clothing, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

The Town of Plymouth offers the following locations as Cooling Stations for anyone seeking relief:

  • Center for Active Living (CAL)
    • Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:00PM
      • The CAL offers a program called the CAL express which allows seniors to request a ride to the CAL and offers them a return ride home. To request a ride, please contact GATRA at (978) 795-4404.
      • Anyone who has concerns about the heat wave are recommended to contact the CAL's Social Outreach team, Lindsey and April, at (508) 830-4230
  • Plymouth Library, Main Branch
    • Thursday, 10:00AM - 6PM
    • Friday, 10:00AM - 5:30PM
    • Saturday, 10:00AM - 5:30PM
